A 27 year old man has been charged after a single vehicle accident that left several east side neighbourhoods without power for hours. Saskatoon Police say around 10:50 Monday night, officers responded to the intersection of 8th Street and Boychuk Drive where a pickup truck had hit a median and a power pole, leading to a power outage that included parts of Briarwood, Lawson Heights, River Heights, Sutherland, Wildwood, Willowgrove and the University of Saskatchewan.
SaskPower says crews worked through the night to restore power. The University of Saskatchewan closed for the morning, but it was business as usual as of noon today (Tues).
The alleged driver has been charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08. He appears in court November 18th.
