The results of the federal election show that people in the Prairies don’t feel they are being heard, and the minority Liberal government will have to work with other the other Parties to come up with solutions as they try to move their election promises forward. That’s according to Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark who says the Liberals will have to listen to the other Parties, and will have to work to make sure the Prairies don’t feel they are left behind, adding to a growing sense of alienation.
He adds that as Canada tackles climate change, the government needs to realize we still rely on the resource sector and the Prairie provinces need to make sure we are heard. Clark says when it comes to lobbying for funding for the City, they will engage with local MPs and with the Liberal government to make sure they are being heard and issues are being addressed. He listed some of Saskatoon’s concerns as the meth crisis, safety, crime, infrastructure development, housing, and transportation.
