More than a million elementary and secondary students took part in the Student Vote Canada program. After learning about the electoral process, researching parties and platforms, and debating Canada’s future, the students cast ballots for the official candidates in their school’s riding. The liberals took 22.3 per cent of the popular vote and won 110 seats. The NDP won just under 25 per cent of the popular vote and 99 sets to form the official opposition. The Tories took 25 per cent of the popular vote but won only 94 seats. The Green Party won 28 seats and the Bloc Quebecois won 9 seats. In Saskatchewan, the students elected 11 Conservatives and 3 NDP.
