The Province of Saskatchewan says despite test results showing higher levels of copper or lead at the Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford, a health advisory has not been issued because there is no health risk.
The government says steps have been taken to make sure there is potable water at the facility for drinking consumption and kitchen use.
Authorities believe the issue is originating inside the facility because water tests from the City of North Battleford don’t show the same results.
Further water testing is underway. Mike Carr, Deputy Minister of Central Services, says, “This is a priority and every effort is being made to minimize the amount of time this situation impacts patients and staff.”
In May, the province revealed the facility would need significant repair work for a leaky roof. The 407-million dollar hospital opened in March.
