When the Sask Party government was elected back in 2007, they had aimed to eliminate emergency wait times by 2013. Just recently, reports had surfaced of a woman who was being treated in a hallway of the Pasqua hospital for five days. Health Minister Jim Reiter says five days of hallway care is simply not acceptable. NDP leader Ryan Meili said he agreed with the minister that it s not acceptable, but more concrete action needs to be done to ensure this does not continue. Health minister Jim Reiter says work is being done to prevent this from happening. “First of all its not many months ago we added 24 beds to Pasqua. Also this summer we announced there is capital project underway at RUH to add 36 beds there that we certainly think is going to help.” NDP leader Ryan Meili says hallway medicine is unacceptable, but instances have increased under the Sask Party, which is the exact opposite of what they promised.
