It’s my Parting Shot for some Monday C-F-L Musings…
To answer your question, it was 2009. That’s the last time the Saskatchewan Roughriders finished first in the West and hosted the division final. This year’s edition of the Green and White can do the same by beating visiting Edmonton this Saturday. By the way, you’re welcome!
That was another impressive last drive of the game to kick a game-winning field goal back on Saturday in Edmonton by the Riders. I don’t care if Cody Fajardo falters the rest of the way, he has done enough to earn his new contract extension in my books!
There have been some bad teams in recent memory in the C-F-L…plenty of teams with 3-15 records. But, this year’s edition of the Ottawa RedBlacks may be the worst. They’re 3-14, have lost 10 straight games and have only scored 280 points! That’s only 16-and-a-half points per game! Their trio of quarterbacks have only thrown 11 touchdown passes and have been picked off 26 times! Their 2-16 expansion season team of 2014 was better than that! Sadly, in the dictionary under “dumpster fire”, the entry is a picture of the RedBlacks logo!!
If you watched the Rod Pedersen Show two Wednesday’s ago, I told you that the Blue Bombers’ best chance of winning was to put Zach Collaros at the helm of Winnipeg’s offence! I’m not just a junior hockey guy…I’ve been following ALL sports as a full-time member of the media since 1979! I think I’ve seen enough stuff and learned enough from the people I’ve covered to make learned statements and opinions. I will be wrong…and I will own that. But, I’m pretty certain the dial leans more towards me being right more often than not! Make that a lot more often than not!!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
