Saskatchewan’s Premier has sent a second letter to the Prime Minister asking for a meeting to talk about issues around the equalization formula, the TransMountain Pipeline expansion and the carbon tax, and now Scott Moe has received his own letter.
It’s from SEIU-West, urging Scott Moe to stand up for Saskatchewan health care providers. The open letter touches on short-staffing and suggests it can be difficult to recruit and retain health providers to work in understaffed facilities that are experiencing what the union calls shockingly high rates of workplace injury and violence.
SEIU-West members have been without a contract since the end of March in 2017. This past spring, union members rejected the offer of a zero per cent increase for 2 years, followed by 1 per cent in year 3, and then 2 years at 2 per cent.
