The W-H-L’s Big-City Alberta teams are expected to provide a big test for the Saskatoon Blades this weekend.
The 8-6-2 Bridge City Bunch visit the Edmonton Oil Kings Friday, then head south to take on the Hitmen in Calgary on Saturday.
When it comes to the Oil Kings, the Blue and Gold are facing the second-ranked team in the latest weekly C-H-L Top 10 list. Edmonton comes in with a 10-1-3 record for 23 points, leading the Central Division by two points over Lethbridge.
On Saturday, the Hitmen should have redemption on their mind after being blasted 9-3 by the Blades at Scotiabank Saddledome in a Thanksgiving Day matinee. Since then, Calgary has won four of their last five games to sit at 8-3-1.
Saskatoon arrived in Alberta with Midget AAA goaltender Ethan Chadwick of the Contacts as the back-up to Nolan Maier while Koen MacInnes nurses an Upper Body injury. Right winger Cyle McNabb is with the Bridge City Bunch, but isn’t expected to suit up because of a U-B-I.
Both games start at 7 o’clock…Friday from Rogers Place in Edmonton and Saturday at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome…with the broadcasts on 98-COOL beginning at 6 with the Sardinia Family Restaurant pre-game show.
