Saskatoon fire fighters responded to an apartment fire on Avenue P South over the supper hour Thursday.

The 911 call came in from 403 Avenue P South and there was smoke visible from a third floor balcony when crews arrived. The building was evacuated and a search got underway for anyone inside – no one was hurt in the fire and the actual blaze, which was quickly put out, was on the third floor inside one of the apartments.

Careless smoking has been determined as the cause of the fire and damage is estimated at $20,000.
