Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Cody Fajardo heads the list of three Riders who are finalists for Canadian Football League awards.
Fajardo is the western nominee for Most Outstanding Player.
Fajardo, who became the Roughriders’ starter after Zach Collaros suffered a concussion in the season opener, led the CFL with 4,302 passing yards. He completed 71.5 per cent of his passes to lead the Roughriders to their first West title since 2009.
Hamilton receiver Brandon Banks is the eastern nominee after setting career highs in receiving yards (1,550), receptions (112) and touchdowns (16) as the Ticats ran away with the East with a record of 15-3.
Riders linebacker Cameron Judge is up against former Rider linebacker Henoc Muamba of the Montreal Alouettes for Most Outstanding Canadian.
Craig Dickenson got the western nod for Coach of the Year with Ticats’ sideline boss Orlando Steinauer winning the eastern nomination.
The other nominees include former Rider Willie Jefferson of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton’s Simoni Lawrence for Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
Stanley Bryant of Winnipeg and Chris Van Zeyl of Hamilton are the candidates for Top Offensive Lineman while Mike Miller of the Blue Bombers and Frankie Williams of the Ticats are up for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.
