It’s the kind of signing, timing-wise, that will get some tongues wagging around the Saskatchewan Roughriders…but shouldn’t!
The Green and White announced that import quarterback Justice Hansen has joined the practice roster. The 24-year-old is an Arkansas State grad who spent time this fall on the practice roster of the N-F-L’s Los Angeles Chargers. He joins the Riders at a time when starting quarterback Cody Fajardo is nursing an oblique injury. But, Fajardo is expected to be available for next Sunday’s West Division final at Mosaic Stadium…and will be backed up by Isaac Harker and Bryan Bennett. The Saskatchewan Roughriders announce the following roster moves:
ADDED TO THE PRACTICE ROSTER:
- American quarterback Justice Hansen
Hansen (6’4-224 lbs) joins the Roughriders after most recently spending time on the San Diego Chargers practice roster and fresh off a very successful three-season collegiate career at Arkansas State. As a senior, Hansen threw for 3,447 yards, 27 touchdown and just nine interceptions. He added 411 yards on the ground and six touchdowns. The 24-year old led Arkansas State to an 8-5 record and was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2018. Hansen had exceptional junior year at Arkansas State as well where he threw for 3,967 yards, 37 touchdowns and 16 interceptions and rushed for 415 yards and seven more TDs. For his efforts he was named the 2017 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year. Prior to joining Arkansas State in 2016, he attended Butler Community College playing in nine games as a redshirt freshman and earning honorable mention All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College (KJCCC) honors after leading Butler to a KJCCC championship.
