Statistics Canada says the economy lost 1,800 jobs in October compared with the addition of 53,700 jobs in September. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.5 per cent. In Saskatchewan, the rate fell to 5.1 per cent from 5.3. Only Quebec was lower, and only marginally so, at 5.0 per cent. Saskatoon went from 5.8 to 5.5 per cent. Of 34 cities surveyed, 15 had lower rates, including Regina which fell to 5.2 per cent from 5.7.
