Criminals, unwittingly, are helping police services across the province. The Seizure of Criminal Property Act allows police to seize property considered to be the proceeds of, or an instrument of, unlawful activity. Money from those forfeitures is deposited in the Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund. And now, the province is providing more than $680 thousand for new policing tools and programming to police operations, community-based organizations, and the Victim’s Fund through the Civil Forfeiture Program. A couple of the police departments that will benefit from this are: Saskatoon Police who will get a Mobile Breath Testing van, and Parklands Victim Services for a domestic/family abuse program.
