The success of the Letters-to-the-Missing project can be quantified by the resolution recently of a missing person case. Constable Ryan Ehalt with Saskatoon Crime Stoppers says they can’t release details because the entire program hinges on protecting the anonymity of the tipster.
“So, even by releasing what case this is about, even what police agency was investigating, any additional details could potentially lead to identifying a tipster and that’s one of the reasons why we haven’t released anything further. ”
The Letters-to-the-Missing, shared on social media and aired only on Saskatoon Media Group stations, CJWW, 92.9 The Bull and 98 Cool, as well as MBC in the north, was intended to target historical missing persons cases.
Constable Ehalt does say the missing person case they have successfully resolved is from the last year and the person is deceased however it is not a suspicious death rather a sudden death with no charges.
