The NDP in Saskatchewan want whistle-blower protection for Health Authority workers. The Public Interest Disclosure Act currently excludes them. The party says that the protection would address the culture of fear that prevails under the Sask Party. It follows the release earlier this week of what the party describes as a hush memo from the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The memo warns frontline healthcare workers not to talk to the media, their licensing body, or outside agencies without SHA approval and they are not to include newsworthy information in meeting minutes. Deputy Leader Nicole Sarauer says if the government believe there is no culture of fear among public employees, “They should have no problem extending whistle-blower protections to frontline workers.”
