On Thursday just after 4 in the morning, three semi-trucks were involved in a collision on Highway 39 between Estevan and the Canada/U.S. border.
Estevan RCMP, EMS and Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. In a news release, the RCMP say one semi was travelling from North Portal when it then jack-knifed.
Shortly after that, a second semi heading southeast collided with the semi-truck and split the trailer from the tractor.
A few minutes after the first collision, a third semi travelling southeast collided with the second semi which forced the second semi into the ditch and the first semi started on fire.
All three drivers and the single passenger were all accounted for. Two of the drivers and the passenger were taken to hospital and were later released.
Police say at the time of the collision, roads were icy and rutted and visibility was poor due to fog. The investigation is continuing.
