A USask Professor Emeritus of Nutrition who is being recognized for her work by the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation. Dr. Susan Whiting is an authority on vitamin D and calcium supplementation. The SHRF says her research has led to significant advances on the impact of diet on children’s bone health and development.
Dr. Whiting is one of the original investigators of a pediatric bone mineral accrual study which followed hundreds of elementary school children for over 25 years. Her efforts to raise awareness about vitamin D deficiency and supplementation has been translated into policy and practice in Canada, the U.S., Europe, Ethiopia and New Zealand.
Last Thursday night at the annual Sante Awards from the SHRF, Dr. Whiting was presented with the Achievement Award, for her career achievements.
