Picture shopping without the crowds while enjoying some entertainments and having a few refreshments, and all for a good cause. That’s what the 2nd annual Champagne Shopping Night at Midtown Plaza is all about, with proceeds going to a healthcare project from the Royal University Hospital Foundation’s Women Leading Philanthropy group.
RUH Foundation spokesperson, Lisa Sands, says last year’s exclusive shopping night raised $50-thousand, which covered half of the WLP’s annual grant that supports initiatives by female physicians, practitioners and researchers. Last year, the group invested $100-thousand into Dr. Soo Kim’s study that addresses shoulder issues with breast cancer survivors who have had mastectomies or breast reconstruction. It’s something that almost 80 per cent of the survivors deal with. Next year’s recipient hasn’t been chosen yet.
The Champagne Shopping Night is November 26th from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $45, but include a $25 Midtown gift card and a donation to Women Leading Philanthropy. You can buy tickets online through Eventbrite by clicking here.
