The Saskatchewan Government is foercasting a surplus of over 37-million dollars for this fiscal year.
That’s 3-million better than predicted in the budget.
The mid-year report points to higher federal transfer payments, resource revenue and net income from government businesses.
The government also predicts public debt will be over 300-million lower than budgeted.
The report states even though retail sales, residential investment and potash production has been weaker than expected, there has been growth in wholesale trade, average weekly earnings, and non-residential investment.
According to the report, employment increased by 11-thousand workers in the first ten months of the year and the province’s population grew by over 11-thousand between July 1st 2018 and July 1st 2019.
