The provincial government has brought in financial planning legislation to protect consumers and investors. The act will regulate who can use the titles of Financial Planner and Financial Advisor. Justice Minister Don Morgan says, “This legislation will protect consumers and investors by ensuring that persons using these titles have the appropriate credentials and education.” Anyone using the titles will need to hold appropriate credentials from an approved credentialing body. The legislation is modeled after legislation passed in Ontario last spring.
