The City of Saskatoon’s Emergency Management Organization says Wednesday’s test of the city-wide Notify-now system was successful and delivered a message to 87,966 contacts using text, phone message and email. The City says they would like to see more residents sign up and more residents customize their profile like how to best reach them. Saskatoon’s population is over 270,000 and to date, just over 26,000 residents customize their notifynow profile. Pamela Goulden-McLeod, Director of Emergency Management says more people did sign up after last month’s alert. That’s when a city-wide message was issued about two inmates who escaped from the Saskatoon Regional Psychiatric Centre. Goulden-McLeod points out that notifynow can’t reach you and your family if you have incomplete or out-of-date information in the system.
