It’s a three-pronged presentation/recognition…and well worth all the pomp and ceremony associated with it!
Ojamalie Attah (pictured) of Tommy Douglas and Brandon Davidsen (below) of Bishop Mahoney are the 2019 Lloyd Saunders High School Athletic Scholarship recipients…two thousand dollar awards that are put forth by the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon. Besides the Friday announcement, the pair will be recognized at the annual Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Dinner on February 7 while the official scholarship award presentations will be made at their graduating high schools.

Lloyd Saunders High School Athletic Scholarship Award
Each year The Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon presents the Lloyd Saunders High School Athletic Scholarship Award to graduating Saskatoon high school athletes. The $2,000.00 scholarship is designated to further the recipient’s education at the post secondary level. Outstanding high school athletic involvement, community involvement and community service are some of the key selection criteria.
The Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2019
Lloyd Saunders Kinsmen Scholarship are Boston Davidsen, a graduate of Bishop James Mahoney High School, and Ojamalie Attah, a graduate of Tommy Douglas Collegiate.
Boston Davidsen graduated with a Grade 12 Diploma from Bishop James Mahoney (BJM) in June of 2019. He is currently enrolled in the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan with the goal of achieving a four-year Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Boston plans to continue his athletic career with the Saskatoon Hilltops.
Boston is a multi-sport athlete, competing at a high level in football, basketball, and hockey. Boston excelled on the football field, leading the league in rushing yards in his senior season as the BJM Saints won the city and provincial title. Boston’s consistent, strong effort was important to his team’s success. He also displayed a positive attitude, maturity and responsibility that helped him excel athletically and academically. Boston also volunteered his time with Saskatoon Minor Football Tykes on Spikes program.
In the words of his teacher and coach, “Although I came to know Boston through sport, he was a student athlete that balanced his time effectively to succeed in many areas. Math did not come easy to Boston, but he consistently worked hard to achieve the marks he desired. The hard work payed off as Boston achieved honor roll standing.”
Congratulations Boston!
Ojamalie Attah graduated from Tommy Douglas Collegiate in June of 2019. She is currently enrolled in Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan with the goal of completing a degree in nursing. She is still involved in athletics as an athlete with the U of S Huskies Track and Field team.
Ojamalie was an integral part of the Tommy Douglas track and field team. She won gold at city’s in 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and 80 meter hurdles. She also won gold in 80 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash at provincial’s and silver in the 100 meter dash. Ojamalie’s strong and tenacious work ethic helped fuel her success on the track. She was always prepared to give everything she had at track practice and never made excuses. This work ethic and positive attitude also carried her to success at the Western Canada Summer Games as well where she placed 5th in 100 meter dash, silver in 200 meter dash, and helped her team secure silver in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
In the words of her track coach, “Ojamalie was one of the most pleasant athletes I’ve had the opportunity to coach. She carried a positive mindset and was friendly to all teammates, and would even go out of her way to make sure that new and younger athletes felt comfortable at practice. She was always encouraging and cheering on her teammates. I am excited to see what she will accomplish during what will be a long and successful athletic career with the U of S Huskies.”
Congratulations Ojamalie!
SSSAD would like to thank The Kinsmen Club for their continued support of high school athletes in Saskatoon.
These awards will be announced at the Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Dinner. The official scholarship award presentations will be made to the recipients at their graduating schools.
