A 12 year-old boy is facing an arson charge following Monday’s fire at the north Regina Walmart. Regina Police and Fire Departments believe the fire started in the store’s paper towel aisle, and that damage from smoke and water will leave the business closed for the foreseeable future. The damage estimate is still being worked out.
There was a rumour going around that the fire alarm wasn’t working. Fire Marshal Randy Ryba says that’s false. He says the system activated immediately. The suspect cannot be named due to his age. He appears in court later today (THURS).
