RCMP say the two deceased people found in a home in Kindersley yesterday are a husband and wife and they believe it was a murder-suicide.
RCMP responded to a home after reports of shots being fired in the 1000 block of First Street West, around 10 a.m. Thursday morning. A person in the home fled and called police.
A perimeter was set up and all of the schools in that city were put under a hold and secure order. Residents north of the hospital were told to stay inside while other residents were told to stay away.
Around 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, the Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team entered the home and located the man and woman inside. RCMP Corporal Rob King says the deceased are 66-year-old David Michael Gartner and 64-year-old Elsie Gartner, who were going through a divorce. He says the couple had never come to the awareness of the RCMP as to a domestic violence situation.
A long gun was seized at the house. Autopsies are being conducted today.
