About 3-thousand people are receiving food and gifts from CJWW’s Denny Carr Secret Santa this year. Of those 3-thousand, about 22-hundred are children and tomorrow (Wed) is distribution day for the 800 less fortunate families.
Executive Director of the Secret Santa Foundation, Nicole Semko, thanks all the individuals, groups and businesses who have donated or volunteered their time.
Last Friday the Carolling Firefighters raised $28-thousand as they sang their way through Saskatoon.
Semko says each family will receive a food hamper and toys. She estimates somewhere between 8 and 9-thousand books, toys and crafts will be handed out. The food hampers include a fresh ham, non-perishable food, bread and fresh produce to sustain the families for a couple of weeks.
In 9 months, the organizing will begin for the 2020 Secret Santa campaign. Semko says there is a lot of pre-planning behind the scenes in the summer and then they ramp up for donations in the fall.
