The Public Complaints Commission is reviewing an arrest made on Friday by Regina City Police. Four officers were in attendance and the suspect was allegedly kneed by one of the officers three times.
Police say the arrest was made in connection to an armed home invasion in the area, and they were made aware the suspect was high on crystal meth and possibly had a firearm in their possession. Chief Evan Bray says there’s always the possibility of injury when a weapon is involved in an arrest.
A video showing the arrest has surfaced.
Chief Bray says officers do a lot of training.
“I’m not saying that it always goes perfect and that I’m not making a determination one way or another. I don’t think I can determine by watching that video whether or not the approved or trained techniques were used. That’s something that will come out in the investigation.”
The suspect was taken to hospital by EMS for his injuries. (CKRM)
