There were no injuries in a collision between a fire engine and a car on Wednesday morning just before 10:30 at the intersection of Grosvenor Avenue and 8th Street East. The Saskatoon Fire Department says the fire engine was responding to a woman experiencing chest pain. Immediately after the accident, a second fire engine was dispatched to respond to the chest pain incident.
Preliminary review indicates the car collided with the driver-side cab of the fire engine. Both vehicles had to be towed, and the incident is being investigated by the Saskatoon Police. There is also a review by the Fire Department. It’s expected the fire engine will be out of service for an extended period of time.
A reminder from the Fire Department is when drivers notice emergency vehicles, they should pull to the right, stop, and not enter an intersection when an emergency vehicle is approaching with its lights and sirens on.
