With just over a week to go in their 2019 holiday fundraising campaign, the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre is 75 per cent of way to achieving their goals of 500 thousand dollars in cash donations and 500 thousand pounds worth of food donations.
Laurie O’Connor, Executive Director of the Food Bank and Learning Centre says she doesn’t believe they’re seeing a lower number of donations compared to previous years.
She says they have wonderful support in the community, although she says she is nervous with just over a week to go in fundraising and there’s still a quarter of the goal to be met.
Monetary donations can be made by clicking on the link below or by mailing a cheque to the food bank.
Food donations can be made at any major grocery store or at the Food Bank and Learning Centre which is located at 202 Avenue C South. The food bank will also be open all-day Monday and Tuesday morning until 12 noon.
O’Connor says they’re always looking for the most nutritious food possible which includes soups, stews, pasta, whole grain cereal and canned fruits and vegetables.
Nutrien is matching all cash donations made to food banks across Saskatchewan up to $250 thousand dollars until the end of December.
O’Connor says the food bank serves 20 thousand people each month with almost half being children.
