It was an unpleasant Christmas surprise for a Saskatoon resident when the tenant returned home shortly before 11:30 p.m. Christmas night and found two small fires in his house.
When the call came in from 906 8th Avenue North in Saskatoon’s City Park neighbourhood the tenant indicated that one of the other tenants of the home was unaccounted for.
Firefighters saw smoke coming from a side door when they arrived on scene. One crew attacked the fire while another backed them up and a third crew used thermal imaging to perform searches of each room in the house.
They got the under control, determined there were no pets or people left inside, ventilated the home to clear it of smoke and carbon monoxide.
Fie and police investigators are in the process of determining a damage estimate and a cause for the fire.
