The Winnipeg ICE cannot be “flying under the radar” anymore!
The ICE won for the 10th time in 12 games, spoiling New Year’s Day for the Saskatoon Blades with a 6-1 triumph. In winning their fourth consecutive game, Winnipeg improved their overall record to 23-13-1, leaving them in first place in the East Division. The ICE were led by the line of Owen Pederson-Peyton Krebs-Connor McClennon…the trio combined for 11 scoring points. Pederson had two goals and two assists, McClennon had a goal and two helpers and was denied by Nolan Maier on a second period penalty shot while Krebs…a first round pick of the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2019 N-H-L Draft, chipped in two assists. Colton Dach broke Liam Hughes’ shutout bud with 1:18 remaining in the third period. It was Dach’s third goal in as many games. Winnipeg out-shot Saskatoon 34-26 in front of 3,990 fans at SaskTel Centre. The Blades head out on the road for games Friday night in Red Deer and Sunday afternoon in Edmonton.
