Tourism continues to ramp up Saskatoon’s economy.
Tourism Saskatoon says the industry brings in about 610-million dollars each year and employs about 15-thousand workers.
The President and C-E-O points to a growing reputation and infrastructure expansion as prime reasons.
Todd Brandt says U-S-A Today’s rating of the city as one of the top ten places to visit was instrumental in addition to the opening of the Nutien Wonderhub and expansions at Prairieland Park as well as the airport.
Brandt feels the development of Gordie Howe Bowl into one of the best facilities in Canada has helped attract major sporting events. Meanwhile the 2021 Canadian Curling Trials are coming to SaskTel Centre.
The city has recently attracted six international agriculture conventions and nine other events of over 250 delegates each while people continue to travel from around the province, country and the United States to take advantage of wildlife activities.
Brandt says the city needs a major downtown convention centre as current facilities are at their maximum.
He says the future looks bright with over 45-thousand room nights already booked for 43 different sporting events and conferences coming to the city.
