With reports of Derrick Moncrief having already worked out for eight different N-F-L teams while turning down chances to work out for seven other teams, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have released the import linebacker so he can pursue those opportunities.
Moncrief played three seasons with the Green and White and was eligible to become a free agent on February 11. In 2019, Moncrief had a West Division and All-C-F-L all-star campaign by recording four sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble, 69 defensive tackles and four special teams tackles in 17 games. RIDERS RELEASE MONCRIEF FOR NFL OPPORTUNITY
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released American linebacker Derrick Moncrief to pursue an NFL opportunity.
Moncrief played three seasons for the Green and White after initially signing in 2017. In 2019, he played 17 games making 69 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and one forced fumble and was named a CFL All-Star.
Moncrief was set to be a free agent on February 11, 2020.
