Saskatoon Police Service says cell phone use tallies some of the biggest numbers for distracted driving tickets.
In 2019, for the Saskatoon area, Saskatoon police issued 2,192 tickets for cell phone use while the Combined Traffic Safety Service, in 2019, issued 1,241 tickets specifically for cell-phone use as a form of distracted driving.
SGI reported in December that the number of motorists being ticketed for distracted driving actually took a significant dip with 653 tickets handed out province-wide, the first time in 9 months the number has fallen below 700.
