There will be a coordinated investigation between Saskatoon City Police and the RCMP into this morning’s accident involving a city police cruiser.
The eastbound police vehicle and a southbound semi-trailer collided at Highway 12 and township road 380 at about 3:20 a.m.
Saskatoon Police Chief Troy Cooper says the officers were assisting the air surveillance unit in pursuit of a stolen vehicle when the accident happened.
Cooper has spoken with the injured officers who were taken to hospital with serious injuries and says they are expected to make full recoveries.
He didn’t have information on the speed involved, if the cruiser rolled or if its emergency lights were on.
The RCMP has reported the lights weren’t activated.
Cooper says the semi driver didn’t need medical attention.
There were traffic restrictions in place for several hours following the crash.
