Shortly before midnight last night, Manny’s Motel just off 40th Avenue in Wetaskawin went up in flames. The building is an apartment style structure used for low incoming housing and a shelter.

Wetaskiwin and Millet fire departments responded. Smoke was spotted coming from the building by RCMP members on patrol who went inside to alert the residents evacuate the building.

The area is currently blocked off and no injuries have been reported. The fire is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the Wetaskiwin RCMP detachment.
