Saskatoon’s Connor Zary has caught the eye of Craig Button.
The former NHL GM and TSN commentator has the Kamloops Blazers centreman ranked 10th overall for this summer’s NHL draft. Zary has had an outstanding season with 25 goals and 53 points in 37 games. Zary who was a late cut from the gold-medal winning Canadian National Junior team played for team WHL in the super series against Russia. Zary is the top-rated WHL player on Craig’s List.
Prince Albert native Braden Schneider at 16 overall is Button’s top-ranked defenseman from the WHL. The Brandon Wheat Kings rearguard has four goals and 29 points in 39 games.
Two members of the Prince Albert Raiders are considered first round prospects on Craig’s List.
Forward Ozzy Wiesblatt is rated 30th overall while scoring 17 goals and 46 points in 43 games while Kaiden Guhle is 31st overall. The defenseman selected first overall by the Raiders in the WHL Bantam draft has 7 goals and 25 points in 43 games.
Alexis Lafreniere is Button’s first overall choice. The Rimouski Oceanic left winger who played for Canada at the world championships is tearing up the QMJHL with 24 goals and 73 points in just 34 games.
