Another labour dispute in the province is heating up.

The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation says its executive and bargaining team will soon meet to decide what to do next following four days in conciliation which led to no-progress on issues including diverse student needs and the loss of spending power by teachers according to the STF.

President Patrick Maze says teachers offered to shift 20-million dollars from their health plan to classrooms proposing the government match that amount, although they were shot down.

Maze also says they made no progress on the teacher’s pitch for a five percent wage increase spread through the three year term.

The STF president adds they’ll also be hosting local meetings with teachers across the province during the first week of February to discuss with them what to to do next, which could be anywhere from going back to the table or going on strike.

The STF has been without a contract since August 31st, 2019.

Teachers in Ontario have been taking part in rotating strikes over the last week as contract talks with teachers and the government in that province have came to a standstill.

There are over 13 thousand teachers in Saskatchewan.
