It’s an interruption to what for some is a January slump.
Saskatoon’s 5th annual Winterruption festival began on Wednesday with indoor entertainment which continues through the weekend, and tonight (Fri) is the beginning of the outdoor events.
Coordinator Laura Hale says all of the outdoor activities are in the park behind Ecole Victoria School from 6 to 10 tonight and noon to 10 p.m. tomorrow.
There are 2 tipis on site. The first is for storytelling and the second is a warmup area, complete with a fire and the opportunity to cook bannock on a stick.
You have the chance to try out fat biking, snowshoeing, curling, shinny and broomball.
There are also art installations and at night, a moving light display inspired by the Aurora Borealis.
That’s alongside the indoor events at 9 venues across Saskatoon.
Winterruption is also taking place at the same time in Regina, Swift Current, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
