Environment Canada issued freezing rain warnings Saturday morning for a number of areas across the province including Prince Albert, North Battleford, Melfort, La Ronge and Yorkton.
The weather office says a low pressure system moving through the province is supporting an area of freezing rain that extends from the international border in the far southeastern corner to the centre of the province.
It’s expected the freezing rain over central Saskatchewan will come to an end Saturday afternoon before changing to snow.
The Highway Hotline also sent out a notice Saturday morning saying that travel is not recommended on Highway 2 in the Wakaw area given that the road is covered in ice.
