Opposition to the TransMountain pipeline expansion is growing in Canada according to a survey by the Angus Reid Institute. This after the Supreme Court ruled that British Columbia does not have the right to regulate the flow of energy resources through its territory. In fact, since June of 2018, shortly after the Liberal government purchased the pipeline from Kinder Morgan, opposition has risen 11 percentage points. Still, a slight majority of 55 per cent support the project. The strongest opposition is in Quebec – up 18 points, Ontario – up 13 points and British Columbia – also up 13 points over the last 18 months. Albertans are nearly unanimous in their support of the expansion while support in Saskatchewan is up 17 points and it’s up 22 points in Manitoba. Support in Atlantic Canada is up 11 points.
