Saying, “We have a duty to protect all vulnerable people,” Port Coquitlam RCMP have charged a caregiver and the society that hired her, in the death of a woman in their care. The 54 year old victim had a developmental disability and was found dead in a private home on October 13th, 2018. Police allege she did not receive the necessaries of life. That means such things as food, shelter, medical attention and protection from harm. 51 year old Astrid Charlotte Dahl has been charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Failing to Perform a Legal Duty to Provide Necessaries. Knight Community Society is charged with Failing to Perform a Legal Duty to Provide Necessaries. Both are to appear in court March 9th.
