If you are the victim of a scam, you may be targeted again.
The financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan is alerting the public that the ‘recovery pitch’ scam and the ‘victim list’ scam may be happening in this province.
The ‘recovery pitch’ scam is when someone lost money in a fraud scam, they could be contacted by individuals who claim they can recover all or some of the funds. The fraudster may claim to be a police officer or other type of authority to gain credibility.
The ‘victim list’ scam is a list shared among various scam artists where the original fraudster has been successful in getting money or personal information from the victim.
The FCAA cautions to be wary of anyone claiming they can recover your money, saying if something sounds too good to be true, it often is.
