SaskPower wants to take some of the stress out of utility bills. The Crown Corporation is looking for 400 households in Regina and Saskatoon to take part in an Energy Assistance Pilot Program. The idea is to provide assistance and tools for people with low incomes to help them lower their utility bills by as much as $230 per year. To be eligible, participants must own their home and fall within set income criteria. Saskatoon Light and Power customers are also eligible.
Those accepted into the program will get a free smart thermostat installed, LED light bulbs, high-efficiency showerheads, an energy assessment of their homes, and recommendation on how their household can save energy.
The deadline to apply is February 15th.
