Two Surrey B.C. RCMP officers are recovering after police say they attacked during a traffic stop. On Sunday, they pulled a vehicle over and began an impaired driver investigation. Police allege the driver began fighting the officers and tried to pull the firearms from their holsters. He grabbed a taser off one of the officers and discharged it hitting himself and an officer. The officers called for backup and police from Surrey and Langley responded. The 41 year old driver was arrested on a number of charges including Assault, Resisting Arrest and Disarming a Police Officer. Constable Richard Wright says, “This incident serves as an example of how quickly a situation can change for police, especially when a suspected intoxicated individual is involved.”
