The province has created a Pipeline Project Assessment Committee. Four cabinet ministers are on it.
The group will analyze, assess and engage with proponents of pipeline projects.
Trade minister Jeremy Harrison, says the purpose of the committee is to make sure proposals are being looked at in a systematic way. He says they are prepared to move from advocacy to looking at other options in advancing pipeline projects. Harrison says the oil that is currently on the rail should be in pipelines.
The creation of the Committee has the leader of the NDP rolling his eyes.
Ryan Meili says this is nothing as far as he is concerned.
He says he doesn’t see it amounting to anything.
Meili says he will be interested to see if the committee deals with any real issues.
He says it just sounds like another distraction from the Premier.
