A committee that is coming together to recognize that reconciliation is lacking in the province will sign an agreement Thursday that will begin their journey by building strong long-term relationships and education for the members of the Prairie Rivers Reconciliation Committee.
Tracey Grand’Maison, a Councillor with the Town of Aberdeen who is part of the committee says the signing ceremony that will take place on the One Arrow First Nation is a historical event.
She says the outcome they’re looking for is the binding commitment of the committee’s communities and organizations to work towards reconciliation.
Grand’Maison says through education, they want to share truths from the past and to ensure those will never become a reality again.
The ceremony will have a special guest in attendance, the Honourable Russ Mirasty, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
The committee formed in January of 2018 and it consists of around 40 community organizations including Warman High School, Sask Parks, Valley Action Abilities, Co-op, Martensville High School, the Town of Aberdeen, the Prairie Spirit School Division and Corman Park.
