Lloydminster RCMP are investigating reports of counterfeit money being used at local businesses. From security video, police say the suspect is the same in each instance. He is described a 25 to 30 year old caucasian male with a slender build. The suspect is using multiple denominations.
The RCMP reminds the public of a few security features on all Canadian notes. There is raised ink on the large number and on “Bank of Canada” and “Banque du Canada”, and check the holographic strip. The numbers should match the bill’s value and the word “Canada” feels lightly raised.
If you suspect you have received counterfeit money, contact the RCMP immediately and try to avoid handling it any further, because there may be some forensic evidence on the note.
