City administration is recommending that cyclists don’t have to use bike lanes if they’re comfortable riding in traffic.
The City’s Transportation committee will discuss the recommendation at today’s (mon) meeting after council requested more information in November on the cycling bylaw in regards to cyclists having to use bike lanes.
Back in November, councillors voted in favour of bylaw change that requires motorists to have a one meter buffer when overtaking a cyclist on a single-lane two-way street.
City officials are also recommending that councillors approve another bylaw amendment allowing cyclists 14 and younger to ride on sidewalks.
Today’s (mon) meeting starts at 2 p.m. at City Hall.
