After winning 8-2 in Moose Jaw Saturday night, the Saskatoon Blades knew to expect a push-back from the young and injury-riddled Warriors Sunday afternoon.
They got that in spades, needing an overtime goal from Tristen Robins (pictured) to secure a badly-needed two points in the standings after a 4-3 triumph. The result moved the Blue and Gold into a tie with Brandon for third place in the East Division. The Bridge City Bunch host the Wheat Kings Wednesday.
“It was a tight game and the third period was probably not how we drew it up,” said Blades’ associate coach Ryan Marsh about how Saskatoon allowed a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes slip away. “But, we stayed with it and were able to find a way to get that extra point.”
“(Kyle Crnkovic) ended up getting (the puck) at kind of the top of the circles, blue-line area,” explained Robins of how the winning goal happened. “I boxed out my guy in front of the net and was yelling at him to shoot it because I was hoping to get a good tip on it. Yeah, it was lucky the tip changed the direction of the puck past their goalie.”
