The Saskatoon Fire Department won’t be looking into the cause of the Shercom fire because it’s outside of its investigative jurisdiction.
A 911 call came in around 6:30 this morning (Fri)about an industrial structure fire at Shercom Industries on Township Road 382 in Corman Park. Fire crews considered the fire under control just before 11 this morning, and finished up by around 12:30, with a total burn time of just over 6 hours from the time the Fire Department was dispatched.
The Martensville Fire Department helped fight the fire and the Corman Park Police Service provided traffic control. There were no reported injuries from this fire.
The Saskatoon Fire Department was greeted by clouds of smoke and heavy flames when they responded to a fire this morning at Shercom Industries. Three fire engines, one aerial ladder truck, one rescue unit, one water tanker were all dispatched with a Haz-Mat unit standing by. All employees had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of fire crews. Power was shut off to the building to minimize potential hazards. A water tanker is shuttling water to the scene as well.
Shercom Industries recycles rubber and turns it into new usable products for playgrounds, driveways, decks and most recently signed a deal with Nike.
